Why circumference matters

Bike computers, indoor trainers, cadence-to-speed calculations, and gear-development tools often need wheel circumference. A small circumference error creates a matching error in speed and distance. If your cycling computer asks for wheel size, measured rollout is usually better than guessing from tire sidewall size.

Measured rollout method

Put a mark on the tire and floor, sit on the bike if possible, roll forward one full wheel revolution, and measure the ground distance. This captures the real loaded tire shape better than a printed tire label.

Tire size is not exact
